Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has confirmed his side are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

The Brazil international is deemed surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena, after the arrival of Javi Martinez last summer and Thiago from Barcelona this month, and has reportedly been placed on the transfer list.

And Wolfsburg look set to offer Gustavo an exit ahead of the 2013-14 campaign, while Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly interested.

“If you are looking to improve your team, and if the player is available for transfer, you have to discuss the name of Luiz Gustavo,” he told Bild.

“There is no doubt about that. We are interested in him and we have told his agent about that.”

However, the 25-year-old has moved to deny he had heard from any suitors but hinted he could be tempted to leave his current employers.

“I know nothing of the rumours,” Gustavo said. “No one has spoken to me. We have to wait and see what happens now.”

The Brazilian was an integral part of the Seleção side that clinched the Confederations Cup in June after a thrilling 3-0 win over Spain in the final.

He also enjoyed a superb season with Bayern, helping them to secure their record treble of Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB Pokal titles.

Gustavo first moved to the Allianz Arena from Hoffenheim back in January 2011 for a fee of €17 million and has a contract with the club until 2015.
