The agent of São Paulo midfielder Wellington has revealed his client turned down a move to Galatasaray as he only wants to join Inter.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has been linked with an exit for some time now and reportedly reached an agreement with Galatasarary.

However, Wellington opted to turn down a transfer to the Turkish club, who have since signed Felipe Melo permanently, as he wants a move to the San Siro.

“The player has turned down Galatasaray. Why? Because he only wants Inter,” Gustavo Aribas told FCInterNews.it, as reported on Football Italia.

“The Nerazzurri are definitely interested, but we still have to really work on the negotiations, as they are not at an advanced stage yet.

“Inter currently have a priority to sort out Mauricio Isla from Juventus, then they will focus on Wellington’s situation.”

It has been reported that São Paulo could allow the defensive midfielder to leave on loan, with an option to buy him outright for €8 million.

“We haven’t talked about the technicalities yet, but the loan is one of the theories. It’s not up to me to set the price-tag,” Aribas concluded.

Wellington is a product of the Morumbi outfit’s youth system and has gone on to make 63 appearances and score two goals since becoming a first team player in 2008.
