Málaga’s midfielder Júlio Baptista is close to joining Cruzeiro, according to reports in Brazilian press.
The club’s director of football Alexandre Mattos is in Spain to finalize the negotiations, and have already met Júlio Baptista’s brother and agent Sérgio Baptista, according to Terra.
Cruzeiro could officially announce the signing of Júlio Baptista as early as this Tuesday, according to Globo Esporte.
Júlio Baptista is under contract with Málaga until 2015, as he has canceled his contract with the Spanish club in order to be able to join Cruzeiro.
The international transfer window closed in Brazil on Saturday, but Cruzeiro’s board do not expect any problem to be able to register Júlio Baptista as he will already be a free agent.
