Manchester United succumbed to a 3-2 defeat in a pre-season friendly against Yokohama Marinos after goals from Brazilians Marquinhos and Fabio Aguiar.

The Premier League champions were stunned by an early goal as a mistake from Fabio da Silva, who started alongside compatriot Anderson, allowed Marquinhos to fire a thunderous long-range effort at David De Gea’s goal.

The Spanish goalkeeper, making his first pre-season start, made a fine save but the veteran Brazilian followed up his effort to rifle the loose ball into the bottom corner after just 28 seconds.

United youngster Jesse Lingard finished coolly to bring the visitors level on 18 minutes, before Masakazu Tashiro diverted an Adnan Januzaj free-kick into his own net just before the half-hour mark.

However, Yokohama were back on terms early in the second half when Shunsuke Nakamura’s deep corner was met at the far post by Fabio Aguiar, who previously played for Brazilian minnows Duque de Caxias and Tigres do Brasil.

Shinji Kagawa drew a huge cheer when he came on just after the hour-mark, and United’s Japanese playmaker had a great chance to score but his curled left-footed effort went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.

David Moyes’ side pushed forward in search of victory in the sweltering heat of the Nissan Stadium, but it was the hosts who grabbed a deserved winner as substitute Jin Hanato squared the ball to Fujita, who placed the ball into the bottom corner three minutes from time.
