Cruzeiro have officially confirmed via the club’s official site the signing of Málaga’s versatile player Júlio Baptista.
Júlio Baptista signed a two-year contract with the club and will be officially presented on Sunday, when Cruzeiro play against arch-rivals Atlético Mineiro.
The transfer could go through as he rescinded his contract with Málaga on Friday, before Brazilian international transfer had closed.
He started his career at at São Paulo and have previously played for Sevilla, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Roma before joining Málaga.
Júlio Baptista has also played for the Brazilian national team and was included in the 2010 World Cup squad.
He started his career as a defensive midfielder. and gradually became a more attacking player, eventually becoming a forward.
