São Paulo’s experienced defender Lúcio could leave the Tricolor to join a club from the Middle East, according to reports in Brazilian press.

Estado de S. Paulo reports that he is not expected to play for São Paulo again, clubs from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are believed to be interested in the former Inter Milan defender.

Lúcio was the club’s main signing this year, but he has so far failed to live up to the expectations and is set to miss São Paulo’s trip to Europe and Asia, where the Tricolor will play the Audi and Eusébio Cups as well as the Suruga Bank Championship.

The club are having problems on and off the pitch, director of football Adalberto Baptista has recently resigned, and while Lúcio is leaving, Ganso has been dropped to bench due to his disappointing performances.
