Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has admitted to concerns about Robinho’s injury during the 2-1 win over Valencia on Saturday.

The Brazilian forward netted the opening goal, after missing a penalty, as Milan won the opening game of the International Champions Cup tournament at the Mestalla.

However, Robinho picked up a groin injury and had to be replaced, which is a concern for Allegri.

“It was a very intense match,” he told SportMediaset. “I wanted to see if the team was in the right physical and psychological condition.

“We need to improve, as at the end we were struggling to stay on our feet, but for the moment I am satisfied.

“The doctors will evaluate Robinho’s condition over the next couple of days. I hope to have Mario Balotelli and the other internationals in the squad for the Audi Cup next week.”

Prior to the game, Robinho said he is eager to make the new season a success after signing a new contract at San Siro.
