Barcelona new-boy Neymar believes facing former club Santos on Friday will be a “special” occasion and admitted he will celebrate scoring a goal.

The 21-year-old joined the Spanish champions for €57 million this summer and will come up against the Peixe in the Joan Gampher Trophy at Camp Nou tomorrow, as part of his transfer deal.

Neymar has insisted that he will treat the match like any other and celebrate if he manages to find the net.

“I always play with the same desire, whether it is an official game or not, as if it were the Champions League Final,” he told reporters.

“It will be special because I will be playing against my ex-teammates with whom I have great affection, but I will defend Barcelona with pride.

“It will be different, but I will play as I have always played.

“I have considered it and I will celebrate if I score. I hope so, it will be special.”

The Brazil international, who made his debut in a friendly on Tuesday, also revealed his desire to replicate the careers of some of his famous compatriots at Barca.

He added: “Romario, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho have been great players at this club. Hopefully I will enter into the history here too.”
