Santos legends lament 'humiliating' Barcelona defeat
Santos legends Coutinho and Pepe have vented their anger at the current team after their 8-0 defeat to Barcelona on Friday.
The Brazilian outfit were thrashed by the current Spanish champions in the Joan Gamper Trophy at Camp Nou, after a Cesc Fabregas double and goals from Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez, Pedro, Adriano, Jean Marie Dongou and an own goal by Leonardo.
And Pepe, who made 750 appearances for the Peixe, insisted that the result was "humiliating", while Coutinho admitted it was a sad day for the club.
"I’m gutted. I’m really, really angry about it,” Coutinho told Globoesportes.
"No one likes to see that type of thing. It was humiliating.
"The president, the coach and a number of players need to go."
Pepe added: "They got a hiding. In our era, it was Santos who handed out these scorelines.
"Barca did as they pleased. With our history and tradition, it’s very sad.
"I knew that it would be a difficult match, but I never imagined that it would be a tragedy."
