Júlio César could join Fiorentina, claims agent
Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Júlio César could join Fiorentina this summer but a deal is not in place, according to his agent.
The Brazil international has previously been linked with moves to Arsenal, Villarreal and Napoli, after QPR were relegated from the Premier League in May.
It has been reported that César is close to joining the Viola after the Gunners abandoned negotiations, but Fiorentina have denied the reports, while the shot-stopper’s representative says his client would be willing to join the Serie A club.
"I have never contacted QPR for Júlio César. I want to deny the rumours that you may have read in the newspapers," Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade told Sky Sport 24.
Josias Cardoso, the player's agent, told Radio Blu: "I never made direct contact with Fiorentina, but I did send a close friend to speak to the Viola. For now there is no news.
"QPR would have no problem letting him go to Fiorentina or to any other club, but if the €3.2 million doesn’t arrive then it’s difficult to close the deal. The move can be made only if we are offered a four-year contract.
"He has a contract with QPR until 2016, so it has to match that date. The length of the contract could compensate for a difference in wages, but if it expired earlier than 2016 then it would be pointless.
"Júlio César likes Fiorentina, so they could be the right team for him to target a World Cup spot."
