The mystery of Alexandre Pato’s goal celebration is revealed
Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato has kept the meaning of his goal celebration under wraps, but defender Felipe recently revealed that the meaning is more obvious than first thought.
The celebration has spaked curiosity amongst fans, who’ve had a great time coming up with their own theories as to what the celebration means, and many will be disappointed with its true meaning.
The word Pato means duck in Brazilian, and the celebration is no more than a play on words on the striker’s name.
According to Felipe, the hand on the face ritual performed after scoring a goal is meant to represent a duck’s foot.
Felipe commented: "At first he was very mysterious, but now we know it's a duck paw. He is a prankster."
Of course this could just be another elaborate theory to throw fans off the scent of the celebration's real meaning!
Corinthians will be without their leading scorer Paro for the next three games, as the striker will be joining up with Brazil. The national side will be hoping that they’ll also get the chance to see his goal celebration on a regular basis.
