Mutual respect shown as Brazilians welcome Australia
The Austrlian football team were welcomed to Brazil as heroes, as they arrived at Brasiliense football club for training prior to their match versus the Seleção tomorrow.
The Austrailian players were overwhelmed with the reception they received, and Socceroos striker Archie Thompson responded in kind with some praise for Brazilian football.
“I grew up watching Brazilian football. For me, Brazil is football’s home.
"One of the reasons I decided to play is because of how beautiful Brazilians make the game look” commented Thompson.
The Melbourne Victory forward also recalled the match between the two sides in the 2006 World Cup group stages in Germany
“I loved that team. In the match back in 2006, we were very nervous, very serious.
“When we looked around we saw Brazil’s bus shaking, I saw Ronaldinho dancing and the other players singing. I thought that was amazing.” he said.
