Fiorentina made no late bid for QPR's Júlio César
Fiorentina have reiterated that the club made no contact to sign Júlio César from Queens Park Rangers late on in the transfer window.
The Seleção goalkeeper had been expected to leave Loftus Road this summer following QPR’s relegation from the Premier League; with a move to Fiorentina or Arsenal being linked repeatedly.
However, reports have suggested that the 34-year-old turned down a move to Serie A, but Fiorentina’s sporting director Daniele Prade has denied making an approach for the stopper, reports Sky Sports.
"We were never rejected by Júlio César because we never contacted Júlio César," Prade told La Nazione.
"For two reasons - Júlio César has not played a real match since last April and then he has a very high salary, too high for us."
César was linked to a number of moves this summer and it was expected that he would move on from QPR, however, a number of loan offers were deemed not to be in the best interest of the club according to manager Harry Redknapp.
